welcome aboard

We combine sun and wind - the best of both worlds.

And efficiency increases by around 30%.

There has never been a sail like this before.

  • The world's first fixed solar sail in the tried and tested crab claw shape.
  • This sail shape is particularly efficient because the air turbulence close to the boat is less disruptive and the wind in the upper part enables even more efficient propulsion.
  • The university in Yverdons-les-Bains, HEIG-VD, is currently calculating the energy gain with different shapes and curvatures.

  • According to preliminary calculations, the gain is 25 - 30% more than when using electric motors alone.
  • The sailing tests on Lake Neuchâtel (see video below) in summer 23 already gave us an idea of this.
  •  And at anchor or in the harbour, the SOLARRIG provides shade and collects power from the sun at the same time. (see picture above: Prototype 2)

Mission

rethink without giving up

  • Passenger ferries transport sustainably, environmentally consciously, cleanly and quietly.
  • Supply and disposal ships in southern archipelagos protect the endangered ecosystems.

  • Long trips around the world are also possible with a solar boat. Motorboat captains who think sustainably become "solar sailors" - and even in calm conditions they can sail at 5 knots.

strategie

  • solarrig gmbh (sarl) aims to develop and test a solar sail for ferry, transport and leisure catamarans.

  • The study carried out by the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland, HES-SO, in 2021 serves as the basis for the bachelor's thesis.

  • Following successful practical trials, production partners are to be found for a joint venture project.

  • Marketing will take place directly or via partners.
