This sail shape is particularly efficient because the air turbulence close to the boat is less disruptive and the wind in the upper part enables even more efficient propulsion.
The university in Yverdons-les-Bains, HEIG-VD, is currently calculating the energy gain with different shapes and
curvatures.
According to preliminary calculations, the gain is 25 - 30% more than when using electric motors alone.
The sailing tests on Lake Neuchâtel (see video below) in summer 23 already gave us an idea of this.
